Box build assembly is the manufacturing of a complete, finished product: the enclosure, printed circuit boards, wiring, firmware and packaging, assembled and tested as one unit by a single manufacturer. Instead of receiving parts to integrate yourself, you receive a working product ready to ship or deploy.

Komaspec provides turnkey box build assembly manufacturing for OEMs that need one accountable partner for the entire build. We fabricate the sheet metal and plastic enclosures, assemble the PCBAs and cable harnesses, load the firmware, run 100% functional testing and pack the finished units — all in our own facilities. With more than 20 years of experience and plants in China, Vietnam and Mexico, we specialize in high-mix, medium- to high-volume production for companies that have outgrown managing five suppliers for one product.

What We Build In-House

Sheet metal, plastics, PCBAs and cable harnesses are all fabricated in our own facilities - giving us direct control over quality, cost and lead time across the whole build.

Sheet Metal Enclosures & Mechanical Parts

Custom enclosures, chassis, brackets and structural parts produced on our own sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, bending and welding lines. Tight tolerances and consistent finishing across production runs, from single enclosures to rack-scale structures.

Plastic Enclosures & Components

Injection molding up to 650 tons,  ultrasonic welding and plastic machining. We help you evaluate plastic materials options during design review to find the right enclosure approach for your product and volume.

PCBA & Custom Cable Assembly

SMT and through-hole PCB assembly, custom cable harnessing and wire routing done in-house and tested before integration into the finished electromechanical assembly. Boards and harnesses are built as part of the same production run as the enclosure - not shipped in as separate line items from another vendor.

Integration, Potting, Firmware & Test

Final integration includes automated epoxy potting where the application requires it, firmware flashing on the line, and functional testing under our quality management system. Products leave configured and deployment-ready, not just mechanically complete.

Box Build Solutions by Industry

Every industry puts different demands on an enclosure - dust and vibration in a mine, airflow and EMI in a server rack, washdown and corrosion in water treatment. We've built dedicated production approaches for the sectors we serve most.

Start With a Design Review

1. Design Review & DFM

STEP 01

Our engineers review your drawings and BOM before anything is quoted for production, flagging cost drivers and manufacturability risks early with complete DFM analysis.

2. Sourcing & Purchasing

STEP 02

We qualify suppliers for every component we don't make ourselves and manage long-lead items like ICs and specialty connectors, so purchasing doesn't become your bottleneck.

3. Fabrication

STEP 03

Sheet metal, plastic parts, PCBAs and cable harnesses are produced in-house, in parallel - operating under one production schedule instead of managing four vendor lead times.

4. Integration & Assembly

STEP 04

Sub-assemblies are built and tested, PCBAs are mounted, harnesses connected, and the full unit is brought together on flexible assembly lines set up for your product.

5. Testing & Firmware

STEP 05

Firmware is flashed on the line and every unit passes electrical, mechanical and functional testing - 100% in-line, not sample-based. Results are logged against each unit.

6. Packaging & Shipping

STEP 06

Units are labeled and packed to your requirements. We can arrange export shipment through our freight forwarder network, or ship to your 3PL.

Why OEMs Choose Komaspec for Box Build Assembly

01 / INTEGRATION

Everything Under One Roof

Sourcing, fabrication, assembly and testing happen in our own facilities. When a fit issue shows up at integration, our sheet metal team and assembly team are in the same building - it gets fixed in hours, not in a three-way email chain between vendors.

02 / SCALABILITY

Medium to High Volume Support

We've spent 20+ years working with small and medium-sized OEMs, and our flexible line setups are designed around high-mix custom products - not commodity runs. If your volumes are growing, our lines scale with your program.

03 / GLOBAL FOOTPRINT

Three Production Regions

Facilities in China, Vietnam and Mexico give you options: cost-optimized production in Asia, or nearshoring to Mexico for North American programs where lead time and supply chain resilience matter as much as unit cost. Learn more about our facilities.

04 / ENGINEERING

Full Engineering Support

DFM reviews, prototyping and new product introduction (NPI) support are part of the process, not a paid add-on.

05 / SUPPLY CHAIN

Component & Inventory Control

We manage customer consigned inventory, blanket POs and key long-lead materials such as PCBAs, ICs and electromechanical components - helping stabilize delivery schedules and simplify purchasing on your side.

Komaspec quality inspection lab and functional testing bench

Quality Control Built Into the Line

A box build is only as good as its weakest sub-assembly. Our quality system checks every stage of the build - not just the finished unit.

100% In-Line Functional Testing

Every unit - not a sample - passes electrical, mechanical and functional testing before packaging. PCBA firmware flashing is verified as part of the same test sequence.

Automated Quality Data Capture

Test results are captured and uploaded automatically, giving you traceability and transparency across the production run and a data trail for troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Unit-Level Traceability

Scan-in/scan-out labeling links each finished product to its PCBA test and firmware records under our quality management system. If a field issue ever appears, you can trace it to the exact unit, lot and test data. Records ship with each production lot, or we can connect them to a customer-accessible service.

Box Build Assembly FAQs

Answers to common questions about our box build assembly services.

A typical box build runs through eight stages: component sourcing, PCBA fabrication, mechanical part fabrication, sub-assembly, PCBA mounting into the enclosure, integration of cables and remaining components, functional testing, and final labeling and packaging. At Komaspec, all eight happen in our own facilities under one production schedule.

Sheet metal enclosures and mechanical parts, plastic components (injection molding up to 650 tons, ultrasonic welding, machining), PCBAs, and custom cable harnesses. We also handle automated epoxy potting, firmware flashing and functional testing in-house.

Through 100% in-line functional testing of every unit, PCBA firmware verification, automated quality data capture, and scan-in/scan-out traceability linking each product to its test and firmware records.

Yes. Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review and engineering consultation are part of our standard process - we refine designs for cost and manufacturability before production starts.

Medium- to high-volume production of custom products, with flexible line setups that scale from initial runs to full volume. We've built our business around high-mix production for small and medium-sized OEMs over 20+ years.

Yes. We work with a network of freight forwarders and can handle export shipment of your finished products to most countries, or deliver to your logistics provider.
